Photo Internship

The Village Voice is looking for an intern (approx. 25 hours per week) that can work in the photo department for at least six months. The position is available NOW. The internship is a valuable hands-on learning experience for those who want to pursue the field of photojournalism. Although the internship is unpaid, the intern gets paid for assigned shoots, usually one per week. Applicant must have a basic understanding of Photoshop. Other responsibilities for the position include: helping to arrange photo shoots, scanning negatives for viewing/ editing purposes; photo trafficking: coordinating filing and return of photos to freelance photographers and agencies; photo research (via internet, phone calls) etc...

Must feel comfortable making in-person sales calls to advertising agencies, advertising managers, etc. with the purpose of, making sales presentations. Must have experience in developing advertising strategies, layout and ad copy to increase sales from existing accounts. Must have the ability to attract new advertisers using various methods such as cold calling. Self-direction, attention to detail, good follow through skills are necessary. Must have knowledge of print advertising and production terminology. In addition, must have the ability to formulate and present structured presentations. Must have the ability to deal with deadlines and customer demands. Proven track record in meeting sales objectives required.
