Officers and ensigns of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan accuse the state in default of obligations on supporting military personnel.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has not met his pledge to enact far-ranging media reforms, including the privatization of state-owned media, the conversion of state television to public television, and a new media law, Freedom House asserted today. Despite improvements in state control of the press, Kyrgyzstan continues to be rated as Not Free in Freedom Houses Freedom of the Press 2006 report.

Freedom House condemns criminal prosecution of Kyrgyz human rights defender

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan Freedom House today denounced the prosecution for libel of a human rights defender in Kyrgyzstan. Freedom House described the action against Mr. Maksim Kuleshov, the Kyrgyz human rights defender, as an attempt by authorities to limit his human rights activities, suppress his freedom of expression and discourage other citizens from filing complaints against the militia.

Human rights defenders, prosecutors, militia officers, and judges of Jalalabat made a first common step to eradicate torture
It is not an easy task to talk to law enforcement officers about torture sitting at one table. Nevertheless, since torture is still used as one of the interrogation methods there is only one way to eradicate it to sit together with the law enforcement officers and look together for the ways to solve this problem.
