MacBench

MacBench® 5.0 is a subsystem-level benchmark that measures the processor, floating point, disk, graphics, video, and CD-ROM performance of a Mac OS system. MacBench's tests reflect how well your Mac OS system should run popular Macintosh applications.

Exciting new features in MacBench 5.0 include:

  • a new graphics playback test so realistic you'll think your system is running the actual applications
  • new application profiles that make the tests as timely as possible
  • an improved user interface that lets you deselect any test results you don't want to see
  • a new base machine (a 300-MHz G3), which has a new base score of 1000
  • support for the flexible L2 cache, telling you how big the cache is and how fast it's running
  • fixes for all reported MacBench 4 problems
  • improved system and hard disk format detection

Please note: The test files for MacBench 5.0's Graphics, CD-ROM and video tests are extremely large. If you'd like a copy of the Ziff-Davis Mac OS Benchmarks CD, which includes a complete copy of MacBench 5.0, use this on-line request page. Here's the MacBench on-line documentation.

We can help you find MacBench results and other product information, including the Y2K status of the benchmark.
