Google Currents

A good Flipboard alternative and a good Reddit app is what I was wishing for most on Android (that iOS already has). Currents has now completely addressed the lack of Flipboard and I like it even more than Flipboard and Reddit News has matched Alien Blue and then some. Been with Android since HTC Dream / G1 and Android 1.0 but since ICS, I'm completely happy with Android. Thanks, Google!

Can we get Google reader integration tighter? As in, not needing to manually mark my articles as read in reader when I do so in this app. Also, caching to SD card would be nice as well as read it later apps integration.

Great job with integrating share with G+ to provide preview image as well for links to articles (now share with the YouTube Dev Team)

The sync speeds are blazing fast, searching for things now actually works, and nicest of all, an option to turn off fullscreen so that you have that notification bar up top (my favorite improvement). Thank you Google for keeping this updated.

But it needs to limit cache size, support twitter, and display good looking thumbnails - SGS

People saying this the Android equivalent to Flipboard are straight up lying. This isn't half as sleek or stylish. Otherwise, it's a fine news reader that does nothing new and it's a little bit slow.

the previous versions of this app were terrible due to slow syncing. this has finally been fixed in this version, which makes it a really excellent app.

I find this as pleasant to read on as Flipboard on iPhone but the lack of options to browse Google Reader starred items, and folders makes ultimately a missed opportunity. How can a Google product fall behind the competition on Google product integration???

The new update is still slow in syncing compared to others and force closes a lot. The UI is hard to read on a phone, I have to log in everytime I open currents after a few hrs! I give up:( Check out this app called newshog which is superb for Google News. It has 100+ channels, news loads very fast, you can read full articles within the app formatted nicely for the mobile screen, it supports offline reading, you can hide read articles, and text to speech is awesome! Everything that Google Currents is not:)

This is a great update. Works faster and nicer than the original version. And it's a great example of android tablet apps design. We'd like an option to hide the navigation bar. But I'm giving 5 star hoping that google will continue improving it.
