Terms of Service

  • You will not copy any part of the website without Scribd’s written permission. Reposting Scribd documents on an external website is strictly prohibited and will be prosecuted pursuant with the Copyright Act. This does not apply to embedding Flash documents that are still hosted by Scribd.
  • You will not use an automated system, such as a robot, spider, offline reader, etc. to access the site, unless it is a major public search engine.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Scribd.
  • You will be responsible for the activity that takes place on your account.
  • You understand that Scribd does not guarantee any confidentiality with respect to user submissions.
  • You are responsible for your own submissions and consequences for publishing them.
  • You retain all your ownership rights to your user submissions. However, by submitting content, you grant Scribd and users of Scribd the right to use, reproduce, and distribute your submissions. This terminates once you remove or delete your submission.
  • You will not (i) submit material that is copyrighted unless you are the owner of those rights or have permission to post that material, (ii) publish falsehoods that could damage someone else, (iii) publish unlawful or offensive material, (iv) post advertisements. Scribd can remove such submissions and can terminate user accounts for these violations.
  • If you are a copyright owner and you believe that a user submission infringes on your copyrights, you can contact us and we will remove that user submission. Please see this page for more information.
  • Scribd reserves the right to change these Terms of Service at any time without notice. Please review these Terms of Service from time to time so that you will be apprised of any changes.


  • Any information that you voluntarily disclose online or publish on Scribd becomes public information.
  • Scribd will never use your email address to send commercial or marketing messages without your permission.
  • Scribd reserves the right to display advertisements from third parties on the Scribd website.
  • Scribd uses certain user information to improve the quality of the site, but will never associate this information with any particular user.
  • Scribd will make every effort to make sure your account is not accessed by an unauthorized party, but you should still be careful to choose a secure password and not share personal information with people you don’t trust or the public.
  • Scribd reserves the right to terminate any user submissions or accounts upon violation of the terms stated in the section “Terms”.
  • Scribd reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time without notice.
