Using slash commands

Slack supports a variety of slash commands, which act as shortcuts you can use from the message input box. Just type "/" to see a full list of slash commands, including custom commands set up by your team.

Start a Screenhero session

/invite @user [channel]

Invite another member to a channel or group

Open a channel or group

/keys

Open the keyboard shortcuts dialog

Removes user from the current channel or private group. This action may be restricted to owners or admins.

/leave

Close a channel, group, or DM

/me your text

Display action text, e.g. "/me does a dance" will display "@eric does a dance" (if you are eric)

/msg user [your message]

/dm user [your message]

Send a private message to another user

/open [channel]

Open a channel or group

/part

Close a channel, group, or DM

/prefs

Open the preferences dialog

/remind me in [time] to [message]

/remind me to [message] at [time]

Set a Slackbot reminder that will send you a direct message at the time you specify. To schedule a reminder for a specific date, use the format MM/DD/YYYY.
