We are creating a unified UKRI website that brings together the existing research council, Innovate UK and Research England websites.
If you would like to be involved in its development let us know.

Each year, the STFC Events Team is responsible for planning and delivering a busy events calendar. We showcase the achievements of STFC and our community, through internal and external events, exhibitions, seminars and conferences. Our events and exhibitions highlight the world leading science undertaken at our laboratories and facilities.

RAL Lecture: Astrophysics at the highest energies

Where: Pickavance Lecture Theatre, R22 RAL

When: Thursday 30th May 2019

Presentation at 15:00 by Professor Tony Bell, University of Oxford

The origin and acceleration of cosmic ray nuclei, some with an energy exceeding that of a well-hit tennis ball, is one of the outstanding mysteries in astrophysics.  I will explain how plasma physics on galactic sales is central to the acceleration process and relate this to phenomena occurring on micron scales in laser produced plasmas.

Coffee, tea and biscuits at 14:30 in R22
