If you're an administrator of your organization's Google Workspace or Cloud Identity account and you forgot your password, here's what you can do to access your account.
Reset your administrator password
- Go to the https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery page and enter the email you use to sign in to your administrator account.
If you don't know your username, click Forgot email?, then follow the instructions to access your account using your recovery email address or phone number.
- Click Next.
- When prompted to enter the last password you remember, click Try another way.
- If you have a recovery email or phone number set up for your account, click Send to send a verification code. Then follow the instructions to reset your password. Or, you might receive a message to enter an email address so support can contact you later.
If you don't see recovery email or phone options, it could be for one of these reasons:
- You didn't add recovery information to your admin account.
- Your organization doesn’t allow admins to reset their own passwords. Go to Allow super administrators to recover their passwords for details.
If email and phone options aren't available
If you don’t have recovery options set up, the recovery wizard asks you questions to verify that you own the account, and then asks you to verify your domain. This option works best for those who are familiar with managing domains.
- Answer the basic verification questions to verify your identity. If you don't have the information click Try another way.
- Follow the instructions to recover your password by adding a CNAME record to your domain’s DNS settings. Go to Recover your Google Workspace password with a CNAME record for details. After adding the CNAME record, wait a few minutes before clicking Next in the password recovery wizard. This makes it more likely that Google will find the new record and allow you to immediately reset your password.
If your hosting provider is separate from your domain registrar, make sure you are modifying the CNAME record with your hosting provider.
- Return to the recovery wizard and click Next. If Google finds the new CNAME record, the Create Password screen displays.
- Create a new password and sign in to your account.
If the CNAME record isn't found, continue with these steps.
- Enter an email address you can access, then click Next. Google sends a verification code to the email address you supplied.
- Enter the verification code you received, then click Next. After Google verifies the new CNAME record, you’ll get an email with a password reset link.
- Use the password reset link to reset your password and sign in to your account.
- Answer the questions about your Google Workspace account. You don't have to answer all the questions correctly to verify that it’s your account. If you're having trouble answering them, go to Tips to complete account recovery steps.
If the CNAME isn’t found in 48 hours, you’ll get an email letting you know the password recovery was unsuccessful.
If you still can’t reset your password
- Try the recovery process again.
- Ask another admin in your organization with Super Admin privileges to reset your password using the Google Admin console.
- Go to Contact your Google reseller (if you purchased your Google service from a Google reseller).

Change your administrator password
If you know your current password, you can sign in to your account and follow the steps to change your password. Go to Change or reset your password for details.
