You can change the sound of your Google Assistant’s voice. Changing the voice setting will apply to all of your Google Assistant devices.
Google Assistant on phone or tablet
Important: Some features aren't available in all languages or countries.
- On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."
- Under "All settings," tap Assistant voice.
- Choose a voice.

Important: If your Google Assistant reads text messages in the wrong language, remove English as a secondary language. Then change your Google Assistant’s voice language to match your Google Assistant’s language.
Google Assistant on speaker or Smart Display

- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app

- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Assistant settings.
- Under "All settings," tap Assistant voice.
- Choose a voice.
Turn off speech output
When you turn off Speech Output, your Google Assistant will show you responses on your phone, but it won't say them out loud. If you want to stop your Google Assistant from replying with sound, you can change your settings.
- On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."
- Under "All settings," tap Assistant voice.
- Under "Speech output," select your phone or tablet.
- Tap Hands-free only.
Change Google Assistant's speech speed
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Settings app

- Tap Accessibility
Text-to-speech output.
- Drag the "Speech rate" slider to your preferred speed:
- For slower speech: Drag the slider left.
- For faster speech: Drag the slider right.
- To hear a preview, press Play.
