You can move files to Trash with Files by Google. You can also restore files you accidentally moved to Trash.
Move files to Trash from the Clean tab
Important:
- This feature will be rolled out in phases and is currently available for BETA users on Android R.
- Files remain in Trash for 30 days and then are automatically deleted.
Move files to Trash
Move files to Trash from the Browse tab- On your Android device, open Files by Google
.
- At the bottom, tap Browse.
- Select the files you want to move to Trash.
- At the top right, tap Trash.
Tips:
- To cancel your action, on the progress bar below, tap Stop.
- To restore your files after they’re moved to the Trash, tap Undo.
Important: Files deleted from "Junk files" card will be permanently deleted. They will not be moved to Trash.
- On your Android device, open Files by Google
.
- At the bottom, tap Clean.
- Select the files you want to move to Trash.
- At the bottom, tap Trash.
Tips:
- To cancel your action, on the progress bar below, tap Stop.
- To restore your files after they’re moved to the Trash, go to Trash to manually restore them.
Delete files from Trash
Important: Files deleted from Trash are permanently deleted.
- On your Android device, open Files by Google
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
Trash.
- Find the files you want to delete.
- Tap Delete
.
- On the confirmation dialog, tap Delete.
Restore files from Trash
- On your Android device, open Files by Google
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
Trash.
- Find the files you want to move out of Trash.
- At the bottom, tap Restore X files.
- On the confirmation dialog, tap Restore.
