You can use Google Nest or Home speaker or display devices to watch videos from YouTube Kids.
YouTube Kids on Google Nest or Home speaker or display devices is currently only available in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.
To watch videos from YouTube Kids, you'll need:
- A Google Nest Display device, such as the Google Nest Hub or Google Nest Hub Max
OR
- A Google Nest or Home speaker device linked to a TV with Chromecast. There's no audio-only option.

Note: The following YouTube Kids features aren’t supported on Google Nest or Home speaker or display devices, unless your child’s Google Account is managed with Family Link:
- Turning Search on or off
- Clearing and pausing Search and Watch history
- Previously blocked videos and channels
- The older content level setting
Also, reporting videos is not supported on Google Nest or Home devices. While our systems try to exclude content not suitable for kids, no automated system is perfect and we can’t manually review all videos. If you find a video that isn’t appropriate for kids, please report it for fast review by opening the YouTube Kids app on your mobile device and searching for the video in question. For General Google Users (accounts not managed with Family Link):
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Make sure your mobile device is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Google device.
- In the upper right corner of the main screen, tap the Account icon
.
- Check that the Google Account listed is the one linked to your device.
- To switch accounts, tap the downward facing arrow
to the right of the account name.
- Close the dialog to return to the main screen.
- Select Media.
- Under Manage your system, select Videos.
- Select LINK under “YouTube Kids.”
- If you wish to proceed, select GET STARTED.
- You’ll be asked to sign in with your Google account to verify your identity, in order to link YouTube Kids. You’ll need to use the same Google account as the one you’re using with your Google device.
- Select DONE on the final screen to complete setup.
Once setup is complete, anyone in your household can watch videos on YouTube Kids via your Google Nest or Home speaker or display device. Be sure to specify YouTube Kids in your request, for example “OK, Google. Play science videos on YouTube Kids.” You can also set up filters in Google Home, and designate YouTube Kids as the only video service available for your children. To unlink YouTube Kids from your Google Nest or Home devices:
- Open the Google Home app
.
- Make sure your mobile device is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Google Nest or Home speaker or display device.
- In the upper right corner of the main screen, tap the Account icon
.
- Check that the Google Account listed is the one linked to your device.
- To switch accounts, tap the downward facing arrow
to the right of the account name.
- Close the dialog to return to the main screen.
- Select Media.
- Under Manage your system, select Videos.
- Select UNLINK under “YouTube Kids.”

For Google Accounts managed with Family Link:
- Search on/off
- Content level settings
- Blocked videos/channels
- Pause watch history
To use YouTube Kids via a Google Nest or Home speaker or display device, you’ll need to install and set up YouTube Kids on your child’s Android device. You’ll also need to set up your child’s supervised account as a voice-matched user on Google Home. Learn more about setting up voice match for your child.
Once these steps are completed, your child can ask the Google Nest or Home device to play videos from YouTube Kids.
Other users whose accounts are not managed with Family Link will need to follow the instructions above, under For General Google Users (accounts not managed with Family Link).
To prevent your child from watching videos on YouTube Kids, you can turn Search off in YouTube Kids settings in Family Link, or use filters in Google Home to block all video services for your child’s supervised account. Learn more about managing YouTube Kids in Family Link.
