Control your child’s YouTube Kids on the web experience with Parental Settings. You can access Parental Settings at any time by following these steps:
- Tap the lock icon
in the top-right corner of any page.
- You'll need to complete a multiplication problem (to confirm you're a parent) and click “Submit”.

Content Settings
You can choose a content experience for your child:
- Preschool (Content recommended for ages 4 & under): Kids can watch videos that promote creativity, playfulness, learning, and exploration. Our systems work hard to exclude content not suitable for kids in preschool, but not all videos have been manually reviewed. If you find something inappropriate that we missed, you can block it or report it for fast review. Search results are limited to content recommended for kids 4 and under.
- Younger (Content recommended for ages 5—8): Kids can explore their interests and search for a wide variety of topics, including songs, cartoons, crafts, and more. Our systems work hard to exclude content not suitable for young kids, but not all videos have been manually reviewed. If you find something inappropriate that we missed, you can block it or report it for fast review. Search results are limited to content recommended for kids 8 and under.
- Older (Content recommended for ages 9—12): Allows kids with growing independence to search and explore more music videos, gaming, family vlogs, science, and more. Our systems work hard to exclude mature content, but not all videos have been manually reviewed. If you find something inappropriate that we missed, you can block it or report it for fast review. Search results are limited to content recommended for kids 12 and under.
Turning off search
You can restrict your child’s experience to a more limited set of videos by turning off Search. With Search off, your child:
- Can’t search for videos
- Is limited to videos from a set of channels that YouTube Kids has verified
With Search on, your child can search for new videos that interest them from the millions available in YouTube Kids.
Note: Keep in mind that there's a chance your child may find something you don't want them to watch. You can report this content for our quick review.
To turn off Search, switch Search to Off in Settings
.
If you turn Search off, the watch and search history for YouTube Kids on web will be cleared. Recommended videos and Watch it again will also be reset. Learn more about Search in YouTube Kids.

Clear watch and search history
Clear your watch and search history, and reset recommended videos and Watch it again:
- Go to Parental Settings
.
- Select your child’s profile.
- Select Clear history.
Pause watch and search history
When you turn on Pause history, the YouTube Kids app will stop using videos you watch or search terms for Recommended videos and Watch it again.
- Go to Parental Settings
.
- Select your child’s profile.
- Select Pause history to turn history on and off.
Privacy and Terms
The YouTube Kids Privacy Policy and Terms of Service can be viewed at any time. Go to Parental Settings and select Privacy Policy or YouTube Terms of Service.
