Timur Bekmambetov (“Wanted”) and his Bazelevs production banner are teaming with ZQ Entertainment to develop a new cinematic universe based on the unexploited horror works of comics legend Stan Lee.

Two projects are initially planned. “Sawbones” follows a frail 12-year old, Alex Covin, who reads a mysterious comic book and is transported into the comic’s terrifying world: a haunted Juvenile Detention Center overrun by demonic forces.

“Carnival of Killers” unfolds amid the 1930s Dust Bowl and follows a young girl with psychic abilities who senses the travelling carnival she and her mother sought refuge in is ground zero for a looming alien invasion.

Kevin Kolsch (“Starry Eyes”), Dennis Widmyer (“Scream: The Series”), and Matt Greenberg (“1408”), who all worked on the recent adaptation of Stephen King’s “Pet Sematary,” are involved with the first two penning ‘Carnival’ and the latter “Sawbones”.

Majd Nassif, Ara Keshishian, Petr Jakl, and Martin J Barab produce. Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment will serve as executive producers on the projects.
