FX has given the official green light to “Justified: City Primeval,” a sequel to its critically acclaimed drama series “Justified” seven years after the Emmy and Peabody award-winning show wrapped its six-season run.
Timothy Olyphant will reprise his iconic role of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens and executive produce alongside showrunners and writers Dave Andron and Michael Dinner and original creator Graham Yost.
While the original show was based on Elmore Leonard’s short story “Fire in the Hole,” the new series is based on the novel “City Primeval: High Noon In Detroit” with Olyphant’s Raylan replacing the novel’s protagonist Lieutenant Raymond Cruz.
In the new series set eight years later, Givens is now based in Miami and balancing life as a Marshal and part-time father to a teen girl.
A chance encounter on a Florida highway sends him to Detroit where he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman – a violent sociopath who has already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and wants to do so again.
Sony Pictures Television and FX Productions are backing the project.
