Paramount Players have moved up the release of the new “Paranormal Activity” movie. Originally slated for an early 2022 release, the project will now be dropping in the next few weeks according to ViacomCBS Streaming’s Chief Programming Officer Tanya Giles.
Giles says in a statement to Deadline that both this “unexpected reimagining of the beloved horror franchise” and a documentary about the film’s making will both be coming exclusively to the Paramount+ service “in time for Halloween”.
Franchise producer Jason Blum has previously teased the new film is going to be effectively a complete reboot, saying: “I thought if you were going to re-do it, you better really re-do it, not try and expand what we did all those years ago.”
Emily Bader, Roland Buck III, Dan Lippert, and Henry Ayres-Brown star in the film which hails from director Will Eubank (“Underwater”) and writer Christopher Landon (“Happy Death Day”).
