“Quantum Leap” Sequel Series Pilot Ordered

Quantum Leap Sequel Series Pilot Ordered
NBC

Back in September came word from actor Scott Bakula that a reboot of the iconic sci-fi series “Quantum Leap” was in the works.

At the time, Bakula said “very significant conversations” were going on regarding a reboot or revival of the NBC series which ran for five seasons from 1989-1993.

Well, progress appears to have been made as NBC has officially greenlit the pilot for what will be a sequel series set thirty years later.

In the pilot, a new team has been assembled to restart project ‘Quantum Leap’ decades after physicist Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the project accelerator and vanished.

Their aim is to understand the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. The synopsis suggests original series star Bakula is a lock, and while sources indicate the actor may be involved – nothing is official at this time.

Creator Don Bellisario is on board for the revival though as executive producer while Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (“Gotham”) are showrunners. Deborah Pratt and Martin Gero are also executive producers.

Universal Television is backing the project which is under series consideration for next year.
