The Society seeks a creative, self-motivated, organized, and energized person to fill the Associate position in the Arts & Culture department. The Arts & Culture Associate works primarily with the Senior Director of Arts & Culture, supporting all aspects of coordinating and developing contemporary culture and arts programs of the Korea Society; the officer also supports work in other activities of the Society on an as-needed basis.

Principal Responsibilities:

Culture

  • * Assist Senior Director of A&C in the development, coordination, and implementation of contemporary culture programs and events
  • * Assist Senior Director of A&C in researching potential speakers, artists, and funding sources and partnering with other organizations to organize regular programs
  • * Assist with on-site program management including reception and registration, event A/V tasks, setup and breakdown
  • * Assist live webcast and video release programs by managing audience questions and supporting the Senior Director of A&C during the editing process

Young Professionals Network

  • * Assist senior leadership in coordinating the Young Professionals’ Network and organizing YPN events
  • * Identify speakers and conduct press and audience outreach and coordinate program administrative logistics
  • * Establish and maintain productive partnerships Assist in Strategizing and implementing ways to stimulate further connectivity to the Korean-American community in service of Korea Society’s mission

Required Skills:

Description:

The Korea Society seeks a creative, self-motivated, organized person to fill a position in the development team. This position will support all aspects of development activities; will be particularly involved with membership, programming, and fundraising activities. This is an entry-level position and candidates with one to two years of experience in the nonprofit or cultural organization are encouraged to apply.

Individual Membership:

  • * Manage the renewal process for individual membership (including payment processing, renewal reminder letters, mailing membership cards, writing acknowledgment letters, and maintaining member information in Salesforce)
  • * Handle all communication with members;
  • * Plan and organize Annual Membership Appreciation Party;
  • * Assist with strategy and implementation of solicitation campaigns to attract new members as well as to maintain existing members;

Programming:

Young Professionals Network:

  • * Plan and coordinate the Young Professionals’ Network and organize YPN events
  • * Amplify the pace and impact of YPN programming. Evaluate ongoing programs and consult with senior leadership on the strategic direction.
  • * Identify speakers and conduct press and audience outreach and coordinate program administrative logistics.
  • * Establish and maintain productive partnerships such as AAJA, KSE, KFS, etc.
  • * Strategize and implement ways to stimulate further connectivity to the Korean-American community in service of Korea Society’s mission.

Women’s Leadership Series and Other Programs Presented by Development Department:

  • * Manage in the development, coordination and implementation of the Women’s Leadership events and other programs with a guide from the Senior Director
  • * Identify speakers and conduct press and audience outreach and coordinate program administrative logistics.

Development:

  • * Assist with special events (including annual dinner, annual golf tournament, Seoul dinner, corporate forums, occasional private events, and Global Leaders Financial Forum);
  • * Assist with preparing proposals, solicitation letters, and materials for corporate and major contribution appeals and renewals;
  • * Assist with annual reports, trip briefing books for fundraising trips, as well as an overview and reports for each major contributor;
  • * Draft/edit letters of inquiry, proposals, fundraising reports, and online content for department’s events
  • * Contribute to major contribution history and records, confirm payments, and send out thank you letters;
  • * Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of corporate donors
  • * Prepare fundraising and membership reports for board meetings
  • * Utilize social media to promote department’s events

Key Objectives::

  • * Maintenance of comprehensive, accurate, and timely records and files for all aspects of fundraising and membership activities.
  • * Implementation of activities in the programming areas

Requirements:

The Korea Society is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) organization with individual and corporate members that is dedicated solely to the promotion of greater awareness, understanding and cooperation between the people of the United States and Korea. In pursuit of its mission, the Society arranges programs that facilitate discussion, exchanges and research on topics of vital interest to both countries in the areas of public policy, business, education, intercultural relations and the arts. Funding for these programs is derived from contributions, endowments, grants, membership dues and program fees. From its base in New York City, the Society serves audiences across the country through its own outreach efforts and by forging strategic alliances with counterpart organizations in other cities throughout the United States as well as in Korea.
