What we're about

Hi and welcome to WordPress Cambridge (https://wpcbg.uk/) #wpcbg (https://wpcbg.uk/)

WordPress Cambridge is a monthly Meetup for users, designers & developers to pool their knowledge, experiences and techniques. Voted the 8th best meetup in town by a Cambridge Business lounge poll (http://www.cambridgebusinesslounge.com/cambridges-favourite-networking-event-results/)

We have monthly Monday evening meetings at the Bradfield Centre on the Science Park. Usually a talk about Wordpress or websites, and the experts promise to solve 1 problem at the clinic.

The aim is to let 1,000 flowers bloom. Everyone is welcome to become an organiser and organise speakers, other events or ???.

We also have a code of conduct (https://wpcbg.uk/code-of-conduct/) to ensure our meetings are friendly and welcoming to everyone who wants to attend. Please check it out (https://wpcbg.uk/code-of-conduct/)!

WordPress Global Community Sponsors help fund WordPress Meetup groups and WordCamps around the world. Thank you to GreenGeeks, WooCommerce, Jetpack, Bluehost, and GoDaddy Pro for their support!

Cambridge WordPress: SEO for a wordpress website.

The Maypole

Tonight we're going to try to actually meet. Location confirmed as the Maypole.

We'll share experiences and discuss SEO for a Wordpress website. Yes, there are plugins that set the page title, meta description and canonical URL. However, there is rather more work required.

So lets share the tips and tricks that worked and didn't work.

We're at the Maypole, 20a Portugal Place. Cambridge, CB5 8AF. Get to 4 Lamps roundabout, then Jesus Lane, Right into Park Street, and the large multistorey car park is virtually next to the Maypole.

The owner, Vincent, asks everyone to buy something. Soft drinks are fine. Food is great. Tap water isn't. He's offering us a lovely room with BT Guest Wifi, a projector & screen, so it needs to work for him.

Given that many wonderful members are in America, Europe, and all across the UK, we'll endeavour to set up Zoom.

Thanks to Chris Cox of https://www.hihub.info/ for providing Zoom.
I'll send an email out for the Zoom connection for our far flung friends on Monday.

This format seems to work.

7:00pm: Welcome. Depending on numbers, everyone gets to introduce themselves, perhaps 10 seconds each, mainly describing their involvement with WordPress. If we have many attendees, then introductions via the chat.

7:10 pm: Start of sharing & discussion.

9.00 There its a desire to wrap up the meeting by about 9pm, and hopefully purchase more from Vincent's bar.
