New York Times heralds ReFrame Stamp
June 19, 2019
“There is, however, a newish measure for diverse hiring on productions: the ReFrame Stamp, which was created by the group Women in Film Los Angeles and the Sundance Institute, and begun last year in conjunction with the industry site IMDbPro. The stamp is tabulated using an algorithm that awards points for film and television productions with women in key on- and offscreen jobs, and extra points for women of color. It basically amounts to a gold star, with a logo that can be added to a production’s end credits.” - Cara Buckley, New York Times
“We like to joke it seems to us if they’re willing to put on a Humane Society stamp that no animals were harmed, it’s not a huge step to say, ‘And neither were any women.’” - Cathy Schulman, Co-founder of ReFrame, President of welle Entertainment

ReFrame at TIFF 2018
At the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, over a thousand festival-goers, filmmakers, and industry attendees took to the streets at the Share Her Journey Rally to call on the entertainment industry to support greater opportunities for women in film. This event, supported by ReFrame, Time’s Up, and #AfterMeToo, included speeches by ReFrame Co-Founders Keri Putnam and Cathy Schulman, GDI's Founder Geena Davis, USC's Dr. Stacy L. Smith, "The Handmaid's Tale" star Amanda Brugel, and more.
The rally commenced with a pledge and a promise, when TIFF's Artistic Director and Co-Head Cameron Bailey signed the 5050x2020 Pledge, following in the footsteps of the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. The Pledge, initiated at Cannes by the organization 5050x2020, includes being transparent about the members of the selection and programming committees; and reaching an even gender ratio in the organization’s top management.
